Newcastle United enjoyed early success, winning three league titles before World War I. They won their first FA Cup in 1910, and went on to win the trophy again in 1924, 1932, and 1951.

In the 1950s, Newcastle United enjoyed another golden era, winning the FA Cup three times in five years between 1951 and 1955. However, their league form was inconsistent, and the club began to struggle in the 1960s.

The 1970s saw Newcastle relegated to the second division for the first time in their history. They won promotion back to the top flight in 1976, and enjoyed relative success in the late 1970s and early 1980s under the management of Joe Harvey.

In the 1990s, Newcastle United experienced a period of excitement and success under the management of Kevin Keegan. They won promotion to the Premier League in 1993 and finished runners-up in the league twice, in 1995-96 and 1996-97. They also reached the FA Cup final in 1998.

Since then, Newcastle United have had mixed fortunes, with occasional highlights such as reaching the Europa League quarterfinals in 2013-14. The club has also attracted controversy and protests from fans over the running of the club by owner Mike Ashley. Eddie Howe is the current manager of Newcastle United, having taken over in November 2021.
