This Arsenal bruised banana shirt brings back one of the boldest away kits in English football history. Arsenal wore it between 1991 and 1993, straight after winning the 1990-91 league title. At first, plenty of fans mocked the wild design. Today, however, it ranks among the most loved retro shirts ever made.

Champions in Yellow: Arsenal 1991-93

George Graham's side launched the shirt as reigning champions. Tony Adams led a famously tight back line, with David Seaman behind him in goal. Meanwhile, Paul Merson and Anders Limpar supplied the flair. Then, in September 1991, Ian Wright arrived from Crystal Palace. Wright scored a hat-trick on his league debut and never looked back. In 1992-93, Arsenal went on to win both the FA Cup and the League Cup. As a result, this shirt belongs to one of the club's most exciting eras.

Design Details

The design is pure early-90s confidence. First, a bright yellow base covers the body and sleeves. Next, a jagged pattern of black and red streaks cuts across the front. Those streaks earned the shirt its famous "bruised banana" nickname. In addition, the club crest sits proudly on the chest. Finally, a relaxed retro cut completes the true 90s feel.

Shirts are replicas and not official football jerseys, however after purchasing a second shirt from this website and realising they were replicas & not being impressed with the quality, I emailed the company. The company dealt with this great and apologised for the confusion on the authenticity of the shirts and offered to send me a free shirt of my choice. I think perhaps the website should be clearer that the shirts are not real as I wouldn’t have paid what I did for the previous two, however I must say the customer service was great. They replied fast and exactly 2 weeks later I received the free shirt I chose, hence why I’ve left a 4 star review :)
